It depends on your rear and side setbacks, lot coverage and any floor-area limits in your city. We confirm the numbers during the consultation.
Can you remove the wall between the house and the addition?
Usually yes, with a beam and posts designed by the structural engineer. That opening is what makes the two spaces feel like one room.
Will the floors match?
We aim to run one continuous floor through old and new spaces, which often means replacing the existing flooring in the adjoining room as well.
Do big windows make the room too hot?
Not when overhangs, shading and the glazing specification are designed for the orientation. We calculate this as part of Title 24 compliance.
Can we stay at home during construction?
Almost always. The addition is built and weathered in before the existing wall is opened.
