What Whole-Home Remodeling Covers
A whole-home remodel is not ten small projects run consecutively. It is one project with one schedule, where demolition, structure, systems and finishes are sequenced so trades never wait on each other and nothing gets built twice.
Layout, Systems And Finishes Together
Because the whole house is open, this is the moment to fix everything at once: the awkward floor plan, the undersized electrical service, the failing plumbing and the finishes that date the property.
Why Doing It Together Is Cheaper
Opening walls once instead of three times over a decade saves demolition, patching, painting and mobilisation every single time.
One Consistent Design
Flooring, trim, door hardware and paint carried through the house make a home feel considered rather than assembled in phases.
What Usually Gets Replaced
Every house is different, but most whole-home remodeling projects touch the same list.
- Kitchen and every bathroom
- Flooring, interior doors, trim and paint throughout
- Electrical service, panel and lighting
- Plumbing supply and drain lines where they are failing
- HVAC, insulation, windows and exterior doors

Keeping A Whole-House Project Under Control
The bigger the project, the more the process matters. These are the controls that keep it predictable.

Demolition, framing, electrical, plumbing, drywall, tile and cabinetry sequenced so nobody waits.
Selections decided early
Cabinetry, tile and fixtures chosen in the showroom before installation weeks arrive.

Changes priced in writing

One project manager

The Upgrades Worth Doing While Walls Are Open
The finishes are what you see, but the value of whole-home remodeling is often in what you never see again once drywall goes back on.
Electrical Service And Panel
Older homes were wired for a fraction of today’s demand. A service upgrade supports induction cooking, EV charging and heat pumps without nuisance trips.
Plumbing
Galvanised supply lines and cast-iron drains reach the end of their lives. Replacing them while walls are open costs a fraction of doing it later through finished rooms.
Insulation, Windows And HVAC
Insulation, efficient glazing and right-sized equipment make the house quieter and cheaper to run, and are documented for Title 24 compliance.
Comfort You Notice Daily
Even rooms are the real test of an HVAC upgrade. Zoning and duct redesign usually matter more than equipment brand.
Seismic And Structural Work
Foundation bolting, shear walls and beam upgrades are far simpler with the house open, and they are required anyway when walls are removed. Older Southern California homes in particular often benefit from connecting the frame properly to the foundation while the opportunity is there.
Staying Or Moving Out During Whole-Home Remodeling
This is the biggest practical decision of a full-house project, and it is worth making with real information.
Why Moving Out Usually Wins
An empty house lets trades work in parallel across every room at once, which shortens the schedule and often reduces cost. It also removes the daily strain of living without a kitchen or a working bathroom.
When Staying Works
If the project can be phased into zones, and a kitchen or bathroom can stay usable, staying is possible. We plan those zones before demolition begins, and we agree which bathroom and which cooking setup stay live at each stage so nobody is caught out mid-project.
Planning The Rental Period
Plan accommodation against a realistic schedule with contingency built in. Extending a short-term lease mid-project is expensive and avoidable.
Storage And Belongings
Furniture and possessions need somewhere to go. We agree what is stored on site, what is moved out and what is protected in place, and we confirm it in writing before demolition begins so nothing valuable is packed in a hurry.

Whole-Home Remodeling Questions
Is a whole-home remodel cheaper than moving?
Often, once you count transaction costs on a sale and a purchase, and the fact that you keep the neighbourhood and schools you chose. We give you a realistic number so you can compare fairly.
How long does a whole-house project take?
It depends on size, structural scope and permitting. You receive a project-specific schedule after the consultation rather than a generic figure.
Do we need to move out?
Not always, but it usually shortens the schedule and reduces stress. We tell you honestly which applies to your project.
Will you replace plumbing and electrical too?
Where they are failing or undersized, yes. Doing it while walls are open is far cheaper than returning later.
Can you keep some rooms untouched?
Yes. We can scope the project around rooms you want left alone, and protect them properly during construction. Many owners keep one bedroom and bathroom out of scope so there is somewhere untouched to retreat to.
Where do you remodel?
Throughout Los Angeles, the San Fernando Valley, Sherman Oaks, Encino, Tarzana, Woodland Hills, Calabasas, Westlake, Pasadena, Glendale, Culver City, the South Bay, Santa Clarita Valley, Ventura County, Thousand Oaks, Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Santa Monica, Malibu, Agoura Hills, Simi Valley, Burbank, Granada Hills, Canoga Park, Reseda and the surrounding areas.

The Order Whole-Home Remodeling Has To Follow
On a full-house project the order of work decides the schedule far more than the size of the crew. Whole-home remodeling done out of sequence means finished work being opened up again.
Rough Work Before Anything Pretty
Structure, plumbing, electrical and mechanical are completed and inspected before insulation and drywall. Nothing decorative starts until the systems behind the walls have passed.
Selections Locked Early
Tile decides the substrate, cabinetry decides the plumbing rough-in, and appliances decide the electrical. Choosing them late is the most common cause of delay in whole-home remodeling.
- Cabinetry and appliances ordered during design
- Tile and stone selected before rough-in
- Plumbing fixtures confirmed before walls close
Room By Room Finishing
Once the house is closed up, finishing runs room by room so completed spaces can be protected and handed back as they are done.
Snagging Before Handover
We walk the whole house with you and agree a punch list, then complete it before final inspection rather than after you move back in.
